Who we are

This site is operated by PC Breakers Wirral, part of Prime Cameras UK. For anything to do with your data, email info@pcbreakerswirral.co.uk. We are the "data controller" for the personal information described below.

What we collect and why

• When you request a valuation: the specification and condition details you paste in, and your IP address. The spec is sent to our AI valuation provider (Anthropic, maker of Claude) to generate an estimate. Please don't paste personal information into the spec box - we only need the hardware details.
• If you ask us to be in touch about a valuation: your name, email address and, optionally, your phone number, so we can arrange collection and confirm an offer.
• When you place an order: your name, email address and delivery address, so we can take payment and post your parts.
• Payment details: card and PayPal payments are handled entirely by PayPal. We never see or store your card details.
• When you browse: an essential cookie keeps your basket and session working. With your consent, we also use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used (see Cookies, below).

Our legal basis

• Contract: to process and deliver an order, or to arrange the collection and purchase of your machine.
• Consent: for analytics cookies, which run only after you accept them in the cookie banner. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Legitimate interests: to run valuations, prevent abuse (for example, rate-limiting by IP address) and keep the site secure.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your data. We share it only with the providers we need to run the service:

• PayPal - to take payment securely.
• Anthropic (Claude) - to generate your instant valuation from the spec you provide.
• Google Analytics - for anonymous, consent-based usage statistics.
• Royal Mail / couriers - your delivery address, so we can post your order.

Cookies

We use two kinds of cookie:

• Essential - a session cookie that keeps your basket and keeps the site working. These always run; the site can't function without them.
• Analytics (optional) - Google Analytics 4, set only if you click "Accept" in the cookie banner. Until then, no analytics cookies are written to your device. You can change your mind by clearing this site's data in your browser, which brings the banner back.

How long we keep it

We keep order records for as long as we're required to for accounting and tax purposes (generally six years). Valuation enquiries are kept only as long as needed to follow them up. You can ask us to delete your data sooner where we're not legally required to keep it.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or restrict how we use it, and you can object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, email info@pcbreakerswirral.co.uk and we'll respond within one month.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK's data regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your data we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above.
